Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June 2026
Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.
Our wonderful Wirral Hospice volunteers’ time would equate to more than £1 million if we were to pay them for their gifts of thier precious time. It’s simply astonishing how much this hands-on support helps us to make a huge difference to the care and support we are able to provide to our patients and their loved ones all across our Wirral community.
To read some stories about our brilliant volunteers, please visit our Volunteers’ Week web page.
Volunteering at Wirral Hospice St John’s
Volunteering with Wirral Hospice St John’s can be both fun and challenging but it is always rewarding.
It gives people a chance to make new friends, learn new skills and support our local community.
Many volunteers gain valuable work experience which may help in other areas of their lives.
People of varying ages volunteer with the hospice. The majority of roles involve a weekly commitment, or you could join a volunteer bank where we call on you to cover absences or help at fundraising events across Wirral.
Volunteers are supervised by the team they are working with and supported by the Volunteer Services Team.
I’d really like to volunteer, what do I do next?
Please click on any of the boxes above for more information in each area. Current volunteering opportunities can be viewed here
If you have the time and skills to make a difference by volunteering, please contact Phil and Lucy at volunteering@wirralhospice.org or call 0151 334 2778, ask for volunteer services, and tell us how you’d like to help.
All applicants are asked to provide two references and, depending on the role, may be required to complete a DBS check.
